Occlusal Disease

Occlusal disease is damage caused by a misaligned bite. Signs of the disease are teeth that are broken, worn or chipped.  The teeth often shorten with time and from these factors, which if untreated, can lead to further loss of tooth structure.  It is the most common undiagnosed dental disorder and can cause much discomfort.

Dr. Scott has been specially trained to recognize and treat signs and symptoms of this disease. Identifying the signs of occlusal disease in the early stages can prevent further damage before symptoms appear.

Common signs and symptoms of occlusal disease:
      --pain, including heaches, sort and tired facial muscles;
      --TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder);
      --unusual wear and fractures of teeth;
      --teeth that move or are unstable;
      --teeth with accelerated bone loss.

Often simple adjustments of how the patients teeth meet when chewing create instant positive results. After treatment the teeth regain original size and the result is the patient looks much younger as well as the disappearance of symptoms.
